May.

I'm here for two months already. And guess what? My one month winter break is less than two months away. Lol. Final exams starting in a month and 12 days. I am definitely not prepared for any of this :/

My uni days are not getting any easier. Sometimes I wonder if I am not working hard enough. Last year, I was so cincai with everything that I did. I studied but definitely not as hard as how I am this year. Last year, almost all my assignments came back with super high marks, almost every assignment was 90% and above. But this year, mehh.. ALL my assignments were barely passing. 50% today, 60% tomorrow. Everything is going downhill. I have no idea why and its pretty depressing. I guess maybe because the syllabus is a lot harder this year compared to last year. Should start studying again if I don't want to see 50% (P, Pass) in my final exams.

Nowadays, I'm living by my goal of leading a healthier life. No more staying up late, no more sleeping till 10am. NO MORE! Lol. I force myself to go to sleep before 12am and I pull myself up at 7am everyday. I exercise more often and I eat cleaner. Except when I am stressed. When I am stressed, nothing helps me more than feeding myself with junk -___- And then, my whole week/month's clean eating and exercising went down the drain. But then again, I do feel better. I don't feel like shit every morning. I get up, I don't feel sleepy like I used to and I don't have the need to take naps in the afternoon. A reason why I want to live healthier now is because I'll never be able to do it in Malaysia. Imagine, after not eating Malaysian food for 9 months and you still expect me to NOT eat and do clean eating instead? That's never gonna happen. I miss Malaysian food so much! I sure have a lot of unfixed cravings! D:

I saw a tweet saying that if we are able to eat 3 meals a day for 3 weeks straight, we're actually the top 15% of the richest people in the world. I guess its not about being rich or not, its about being thankful that you don't have to starve, don't have to beg for food. I know I'm grateful for that :)

Okay, should stop blogging and start studying now. Hopefully I'll do better in the tests next week! :)

Ran.

20th April 2012.

I registered for this run after hesitating for... 2 hours. Because it was $40, RM 130 for a run. Something I will never sign up for in Malaysia. But somehow, I gave in for this run, I find it too special. Haha!

I joined Siok Yee and her group of crazy and awesome friends for the night. They are really friendly people. Really enjoy being with them even though that day was the first day that I got to know them :)

We were given a head band (well, obviously it became wristbands), a glow in the dark necklace (glow sticks made into a necklace lol) and a glow shirt :) Guess which one is me! Haha! Initially I got a green headband and I didn't like it, I wanted the blue one, Alia got a blue one and she didn't like it, she wanted a green one. Lol. So yes, its a mutual swap! My hand is the right-most one. The tan-est one.

AVATAR! Hahaha! I look really weird in blue but Siokyee still looks so cute! :D Our glow in the dark shirts!

It was a 10 degree night and we're wearing only a shirt. Mygosh you cannot imagine how cold it is. Cannot stop shivering. Haha! And there were girls who wore only a cropped top and shorts. I salute them. Totally salute them. We ran 5k around Yarra River with 3 stops in between. Its not a competitive run, its more of a run and stop-to-part run. But we all decided to finish the run first and then party in the end. The run wasn't hard to complete, the hard part was trying to avoid bumping into people, bicycles and maybe.. trucks -___-

The after-run party. DJs were invited to rule the night. People dancing and going mad everywhere! To be honest, this is not really my type of place. I am not really a party person.

But overall, I really had a really great day! :D Met so many awesome people and had my first run in Melbourne on such a cold day even! Went out for pancakes at 11pm. Oh yea, and the awesome brunch at South Melbourne too!

A better photo of Siok Yee and me earlier that day @ St. Ali, South Melbourne. Thank you Siok Yee, for letting me join you and your friends for the night! :D And thanks for letting me crash at your place too! Haha! It has definitely been a long time since our last meet up. Hopefully we'll be able to hang out more before you leave Melbourne :))

P/s. Most photos are also from Siok Yee's Facebook. Hehh!

Love me not.

The weather was really nice.. NOT. Loved me so much eh? The moment I left the house, the rain started pouring before I had time to even open my umbrella. But then again, umbrellas are useless in Melbourne. Because the wind is so damn strong the umbrella might just break into two. No, it doesn't even terbalik, it just breaks. So in the end, I walked in the pouring rain with strong winds pushing me back every step I take. Once I reached the tram stop and got up the tram, it started drizzling. Just... nice. Then, after an hour, when its time to go home, I left Monash, got up the tram, it freaking started pouring again! Depressing xia. And it was already a 15 degrees cold evening (real feel was 12 degrees). Meh.. I felt so kesian, only wearing a paper-thin-waterproof (thank goodness its waterproof!) parka, freezing cold and running in the pouring rain in a blurred vision. And again, thank goodness I didnt kena langgar by those cars. I couldn't even see them and I doubt they can see me -____- DRENCHED hair down. Felt like I went for a cold shower in my clothes. Housemates laughed like mad when they saw me. They no nice! Lol. But anyways, I guess its a good way to get rid of all the stress :)

Had my first test of the year today. Written lah, had one online quiz few weeks ago but I don't think that counts because it is actually OK to discuss the answers. Heh. So yes, a written test for Biochemistry. Materials for 17 lectures. I went MAD. To be honest, I don't think I studied that hard for last year's finals. I guess I just came to realize that if I don't help myself, I'll be doomed. I studied like crazy, sat at my desk, studied for about 40 mins, rest for 10 mins, repeated the cycle for at least 6-7 times. And I still don't feel prepared for it. And yes, it turns out I really wasn't prepared because I couldn't answer a few of the questions.

Notes on the left are identical to notes on the right. Spent two days writing notes on those 17 lectures and realized that the super messy papers I wrote on the left was much more useful. It was so hard to find the things I want from 15 neat pages of paper but was easy to get what I want from messy 2 pages of paper. Btw, the ones on the left, were all memorized. I dictated them all. Of course I took to understanding them as well lah :D Now, for the next test, Cell Function. This, I have no idea how to study for this. *cries* I only have four days! D: Oh yea! Thank you to the person, or maybe computer, who arranged my timetable this semester. I don't have compulsory classes on the day before my test! More time to prepare, I suppose xD

I guess that's all for today. Need to start studying for tomorrow's 6 hours practical class. 6 long hours in the lab! D: *sighs*

Until next time :)

Hope. Less.

That feeling I get when I can't get myself to do something I want to do. Especially when it comes to studying. Getting lazier and lazier. Huge sigh for my laziness.

Haven't been active here lately because... I've been watching dramas and had a food poisoning issue. Dramas, it was easy to control myself at first, but when the climax hit, mygawd, I just HAD to finish the whole series before I stop -____- And yes, had a food poisoning issue for two days. Feel like I was gonna die of frustration but on a brighter note, I'm thankful that it happened this week instead of next week when I'm having my tests.

Heard this song while I was roaming through youtube vids - Here's to Never Growing Up by Avril Lavigne. I don't know how this song got stuck in my head right after I heard it for the first time. Haha!

Time to start another lecture recording. Sien. Till next time! :)

P/s. Melbourne is now 2 hours faster than Malaysia time. Daylight savings started the other day. Supposed to have an extra hour to sleep but I ended up waking up at 6am because I couldn't sleep -,-

It's Easter!

Easter holidays which is also my mid-semester break is almost over! Its getting emotional because we have tests on Week 6. Oh well..
What's Easter without chocolates? Haha! Introducing my Dark Chocolate bunny! Which is now in my stomach already. Hehh.

Went over to Yenjun and Yuhan's place on Tuesday for a baking session. What we're holding is our chocolate brownie in cupcake wrappings. :D So super proud because it tastes so goooooood!

Now you shall guess which is mine! Hahaha! We made lemon-fruit tarts and personalized the top ourselves. They overloaded my crust with the lemon filling that I was practically eating the lemon-cream-cheese more than the crust. *fats!* My tart is the one on the bottom left :)

Yenjun and Yuhan :)
Look at the Oreo Cheesecake! Thank you guys so much for making this cheesecake for us! The taste was amazing! And thank you guys for having us over. It was a great bonding session! :D

We all went over to Coburg at night to Peiqi, Kim Kim and Jing Ying's house for dinner. I couldnt find a group picture for the night so.. whoopsies. No pictures. But their place is so cosy and homey I must say! The house is small, but it definitely feels like a home. A very very homey home! :))
Thank you Peiqi for preparing such a great meal for all of us! :D
I had a really great day out with everyone!

Wednesday.
Kim Kim, Janice, Amanda and I went skateboarding!
Kim Kim and Janice :)

and Amanda of course. :D

Kim and Janice have been on skateboards before and hence they helped Amanda and I to start getting used to our rented boards. And once we're done settling down, we practically started zooming here and there on those wheels! Haha! That's a tick off my bucket list. Awesomeness! :D

This Easter Hols is definitely one of the best short hols I've ever had compared to staying home all day in the past xD Will upload some more photos when my internet comes back alive. Its half-dead now. Sian.

This is me alright. I am 100% like this. I give my 100% to unimportant things but can never get my mind straight when it comes to studying. Becoming diligent is so not for me I guess.

A Month

And so.. I'm back here for a month now. It feels longer though.

A month into the new semester and well.. Mid-semester/Easter break starts tomorrow! My break started two days ago since I've been missing lectures. Hehh. Told my mum that I've been skipping lectures for some time now, I thought she was going to start nagging me about my studies and all, but instead, she said "I trust you, you know what's best". At that moment, I miss her so so much!

I miss the people back at home. When I was home, nothing's happening. Its like life stopped right at that moment. But now that I'm here, there's so much happening, my sister finally going to college, one of the best friend's birthday (unavoidable but still! I MISSED IT! *sadface*), friends hanging out, going back to KH together. Ohgawd, I miss everything! Even the freaking hot weather! (Because its hotter here - for now. Lol)

I have so so so many unfixed cravings until the point it's pretty nerve-wreaking. I miss all those Malaysian Cuisines, Jap food (sushi!), BR ice cream and even all those pastries! Melbourne is 3 hours faster than Malaysia at the moment, so when its almost time for me to go to bed, everyone would have just finished their awesome dinner and start posting pictures on Instagram. Yes, I play with my phone until the very last minute before I sleep, and so I will definitely see those pictures, and start drooling like a dog. The torture! But still, I guess its good to at least see some restaurant food compared to the homecooked food I eat everyday. Haha. Eating out is something really big here.

Okay, now, what struck me the most in the past one month, I guess this'll be a little long. In one month, I was given so much to ponder. First thing - About two weeks ago, a man was found dead on a side lorong right next to the row of houses where we lived in. Murdered or collapsed from illness, we don't know. But this incident haunted us for some time. Another one - Today, the wind was blowing, so strongly, I can feel my table shaking, but I thought I was exaggerating it. Until, I saw this article - Link Here. The strong wind made a brick-wall collapsed and killed two people and injured a third person. This happened in the city, that street, that brick wall, I used to take that route about once a month last year. Third - We're international students.

What I want to say is that, I don't know, all these events, it's all... unexpected. I locked myself at home for a few days after the first incident, the three of us walked to uni together and even came back together. Now, whenever I have to leave the house alone, my senses are really working at their best. Then, the second incident, who would have thought that wind like that could cause a BRICK wall to collapse?! I'd never see it coming. My sincere condolences to the family of the victims. The family of the victims have yet to be contacted, according to the article, why? Maybe because they are international students? Third thing - I'm an international student too. The other day, a friend mentioned something that left me in my thoughts for a while. “一个人来到这里,一个人住,一个人出入,一个人死在街头也没人知道”  What do you think? Just like the two people, they so happened to be at the wrong place, at the wrong time. For international students, nobody knows you, nobody knows what happened, not even your family. I guess, things happen, just like that.

Counting my blessings. Being thankful that I'm still alive, thankful that I'm still breathing. I guess that's why I am here in Melbourne, to learn to be more independent and to learn to stay safe.

Its Good Friday tomorrow.
Have a great Easter weekend :)
Enjoy the chocolate eggs!

Studying.

That's 100% true for me!
That ONE lecture that I couldn't attend and that ONE topic that I've decided to skip. Life.

Everyday, when I feel like going back to sleep, I tell myself, its either I wake up now and get things done, or I wake up later and regret going back to sleep.

I've skipped all my lectures this week. Don't judge me yet, I listen to all the recordings at home, in my own time, in my own speed. Because, seriously, I'll be fishing in class and I am not the type of person who can sit still for 1 hour in class. So, even if I attended those lectures, I would just have to listen to the recordings all over again. Hence, skipping sounds wise. Lol.

I feel so relieved that I've finished all the lecture recordings at hand already and can finally breathe! Last year, I left it all till the month before the exams and crammed like mad. I really really hope that I do not make the same mistake ever again. I really, really want better results this year. But, I'm really unpredictable, I may be motivated now and totally demotivated the next second. I'm a weirdo, I know. Don't attend lectures but wants good results, you say? Yes, I know its contradicting but hey, I think this method suits me best, thankyouberrymuch.

Studying is a real pain an it can be stressful, but after my summer break, I personally find that it is much better to wake up everyday and say "I have loads to do today" rather than laying in bed and asking myself "what am I gonna do today" and be lifeless for the whole day.

I'm back here for 3 weeks now. It felt like months though. The weather's changing, its starting to get cooler. DST is ending soon. And then, the sky will look like its 12am when its only 5pm. I really, really hate it when that happens because I have to walk on the streets in the dark. Scary sial.

Okay, don't know what else to say already. I'm here because I need to digest my dinner. I can't think with a filled stomach. Lol. Noticed that I blogged more often this semester? Yes, because last year, I spend my after-meal times like now, to watch dramas instead of blogging about my day. So I end up spending heaps of my study time watching dramas. This year, I persuaded myself that I should blog rather than spend time watching whatever dramas I have and end up wasting 5 hours watching 5 episodes instead of 20 minutes blogging time. Fair trade, more crap here and less time wasted. :D

I'll be off! Time to submit my first assignment of the year. A  500 word essay based on a 2-minute role play in front of the class. I seriously don't know how did I manage to write 487 words when the 'actors' didn't even speak more than 200 words in total. Mehhh..

Ciao.

Back on track.

Shits happen. I can't deny that I've yet to get over what happened but all I can say is I'll be extra careful and keep my senses up for as long as I'm here. I can't stay at home forever, isn't it?

Finally pulled myself and buckets of courage together and went for a jog. I guess it was something I need. To be honest, this neighbourhood was already pretty creepy before the incident, now, its like a huge jungle with wild tigers roaming around the place. *sighs*

* * *

STPM results were released today. So glad for my friends who achieved what they wanted. Hard work does pay off, eh? :) For those who're not-so-satisfied, I know I am not in any position to ask you to get over it because STPM is a really big thing. I'll just say, don't give up on you studies. Jiayou!

* * *

Week 3 now. A quarter of a semester is over. Lol. I can't believe it actually. Its almost exam time again. I keep telling myself to work harder. I hope that I'll be able to keep up and for once in these four years to get presentable results. For once, let me be determined enough to achieve it.

37.

That's today's temperature here in Melbourne if you're wondering. Have to worry about what I wear everyday because wearing t-shirts and shorts is hot much! -,- Still can sweat as if I just came out from the bath. Also, its too hot to do anything. Its too hot to study and its too early to cook dinner so I shall post random nonsense here. Lol.

1. Proven point - I can study when its cool/cold. Went early to uni today just to attend the morning lectures only to realize that all of them were cancelled. So I had 3 hours to spare before my afternoon classes. To be honest, those were the most productive 3 hours so far. The library was so chilly that it feels just nice to study. *happy face* I shall stay back at uni more often. Anything is better than the heat at home. I'm roasting here!

2. Classes are getting more and more intense. Had 6 hours of lab work yesterday, when I came back, I feel like I could sleep any moment. My brain has been drained of its juices. Andddd... Classes are getting more and more boring. Its only the second week and yet I cannot understand anything that I am studying. Did an experiment yesterday about immunotechniques, we're supposed to write a 5-paged lab report on it but I don't understand anything of what I did yesterday. Research research - more work.

3. I guess its time to go cook? Lol. I want early dinners but I think the boys prefer late dinners. Whatever, my turn to cook, I decide! Haha!

*random nonsense ends here. thankyouberrymuchforyour2minutesreadingthis*

Desert-Hot.

Can you see the thermometer beside the sun on Tuesday and Wednesday? Even the app feels that this is too much. Lol. I got really really tan lately. *sighs* Hopefully the weather cools down really soon. I don't wanna sweat right after a shower everyday -____-

* * *

Its pretty hard to sell my old textbooks. I was pretty foolish to buy the whole set last year. I didn't even use all of them. Only 5/8 books were really useful. And the price for the books, Idk which is considered too little and which is high. In the end, I realized mine was quite cheap. *rugi business - sien*

Anyway, my first year chemistry textbook costs $130 for a new one, I am selling for $80 (I bought it at $80 last year). And a friend just told me that in Malaysia, the book costs only RM80. Major LOL. Like wert?! Since that book is on demand, next year, can I buy like 5 of that book (weighs maybe 10kg?) from Malaysia and bring it back here and make a profit out of them all! -____-

* * *

First week of uni is OVER! My Flyday came early this week. Only three days worth of classes this week. Awesomeness! But I guess I can't say the same for the next 11 weeks of the semester. I sense a tough semester ahead! I've been back here for like 6 days but I feel like I've been back here for months already. Time is passing too slowwwwww!

I guess the heat is getting on me. Better stop before I start typing more crap. Ciao!
